Nickelodeon is negotiating a deal to release a new animated Star Trek TV series with Alex Kurtzman’s Secret Hideout studio and CBS TV Studios.
Emmy-winning writers Kevin and Dan Hageman (Trollhunters, Ninjago) are writing the show to introduce younger audiences to the franchise.
The series is set to be the first new Star Trek project outside of the adult-focused CBS All Access show, as well as the first partnership between Viacom and CBS Corporation.
Fans will have to wait for more details on the latest addition to the Star Trek franchise, as Nickelodeon is keeping the concept under wraps for now.
The Nick show adds to the growing list of new Star Trek series in the works, including a new show focused on Picard (Patrick Stewart), a spinoff starring Michelle Yeoh, Star Trek: Short Treks standalone short stories premiering in October, and the adult animated series Lower Decks.
For now, fans can stay in touch with the Star Trek universe through CBS All Access’ Star Trek: Discovery. The series is in full swing after airing in January.
