Nintendo announced a TON of new games and features coming to the Nintendo Switch in its latest Nintendo Direct presentation.
If you don’t have the full hour to spare to watch it yourself, here are some of our favorite highlights:
1. Animal Crossing is coming back!Â
This will be the first new Animal Crossing game since the 2013 release of Animal Crossing: New Leaf. This game is slated for a 2019 release, exclusively for the Switch.
BONUS: Isabelle from the Animal Crossing series is joining the roster as a playable fighter in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
2. Luigi’s Mansion 3Â
The next installment in the Luigi’s Mansion series, Luigi’s Mansion 3 (working title), is currently in production and launching exclusively for the Switch next year.
3. More details for Nintendo Switch Online
The Nintendo Switch Online platform officially launches on Sept. 18. The service will give members access to special offers, cloud data backups, a smartphone app, and additional online play—including access to the NES collection of classic games. Online games such as Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Mario Tennis Aces will support voice chat through the app. Nintendo Switch Online will require a family or individual membership, and pricing details are available here.
4. Wireless NES Controllers
The new wireless Nintendo Entertainment System Controller will be available for purchase exclusively for Nintendo Switch Online members in the U.S. and Canada. This recreation of the original, iconic NES controller comes in a pack of two for $59.99 and can be charged by attaching to a docked Nintendo Switch system. NES controllers will be available for pre-order Sept. 18.
5. A Pokémon-Themed Switch
Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! will be available exclusively for Nintendo Switch on Nov. 16. Players work to overcome obstacles with their partner Pokémon (either Pikachu or Eevee) using secret techniques. There will also be a bundle that includes a Pikachu- and Eevee-themed Nintendo Switch system and Joy-Con, a Pokémon: Let’s Go! game, and the Poké Ball Plus controller.
6. Super Mario Party
Super Mario Party launches for the Nintendo Switch on Oct. 5. In the new Sound Stage mode, up to four players can each shake a Joy-Con in rhythm-based gameplay, and the River Survival mode offers the series’ first four-player co-op. The game includes 80 new mini-games, a single-player Challenge Road, the mini-game gauntlet Online Mariothon, and more.
7. Games on games on games!
Nintendo also announced more than 20 upcoming games for the Switch and Nintendo 3DS. Some of them include Yoshi’s Crafted World, Final Fantasy games, Just Dance 2019, NBA 2k19, EA Sports FIFA 19, and more.
