Yesterday, ViacomCBS gave a massive presentation (not quite Disney Investor Day level, but close) about its upcoming streaming service, Paramount+. For those who aren’t familiar, this service is essentially a rebrand of the existing CBS All Access platform, with a larger content library.
To be exact, that content library will include more than 30,000 episodes of TV, 2,500 movies, and more than 1,000 live sporting events. While the company had previously announced its March 4 launch date, yesterday’s presentation finally provided pricing details. The monthly subscription will cost $9.99 for premium access (no ads), and this is the only option that will be available at launch. Starting in June, there will be an ad-supported base plan available for $4.99. The full slate of live content will only be available with a premium subscription.

As for the content announcements, there is a LOT to unpack. Some of the highlights include:
- A Quiet Place Part II, Mission Impossible 7, Top Gun: Maverick, and other major Paramount Pictures titles will come to the streaming service 30-45 days after their theatrical debuts.
- Original scripted series, including a 10-episode Criminal Minds revival; an adaptation of the Halo video game franchise; and the next installment of the Star Trek franchise, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, which is based on the years when Christopher Pike captained the U.S.S. Enterprise.
- Generally, just a LOT of Star Trek content.
- An entire animation studio division (Avatar Studios) dedicated to creating content based on the world of Avatar the Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, led by series creators Mike DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko.
- Reboots and spin-offs from some throwback kids’ shows, including an iCarly reboot, a Rugrats series featuring the original voice cast, and a live-action version of The Fairly Odd Parents.
- New versions of several MTV classics, including Behind the Music, Unplugged, and Yo! TV Raps
- Continuations of some popular CBS All Access titles, including Star Trek: Picard, Star Trek: Lower Decks, Star Trek: Discovery, and The Good Fight.
