Actor Pedro Pascal is in final negotiations to star in The Mandalorian on Disney+, Disney’s new streaming service launching next year. Pascal will play the lone-wolf title character in the new live-action Star Wars series. The character comes from the planet Mandalore—motherland to Boba Fett and Jango Fett.

Pascal is known for his roles as Oberyn Martell in the fourth season of HBO’s Game of Thrones and DEA agent Javier Peña in the first three seasons of Netflix’s Narcos.

The Mandalorian is written and executive produced by Jon Favreau, who gives the following description of the show: “After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.”

The series is set after the events of Return of the Jedi.
