You may think that the Pink Panther’s most iconic attribute is that catchy theme song, but you would be wrong. According to a recent brand study, the cartoon panther’s pink hue is his most recognizable feature.
So, Metro Goldwyn Mayer (MGM) and Pantone have collaborated to create a new, Pink Panther-inspired shade of pink. Simply called “Pink Panther Pink,” the new hue features undertones of blue and yellow that are intended to capture — according to Pantone Color Institue Vice President Laurie Pressman — “Pink Panther’s irreverent charm and suave sophistication, conveying the signature ultra-cool style of this lovable prankster.”
While there hasn’t been a new Pink Panther TV show or film in nearly a decade, the iconic character remains popular among fans. Recently, MGM has partnered with fashion and brands such as H&M, Zara, and Mimi Wade for collaborations featuring Pink Panther.
