Pokémon Trainers have a new way to train, nurture, and battle their favorite characters in brick-built form.
The LEGO Group and The Pokémon Company International revealed 12 new LEGO Pokémon SMART Play sets that combine building with interactive construction, powered by LEGO SMART Play technology. Launching Aug. 1, the collection includes fan-favorite Pokémon such as Pikachu, Charizard, Eevee, Gengar, Mewtwo, Umbreon, Squirtle, and more.
Using LEGO SMART Play technology, Pokémon respond through lights, sound, motion, and sensing via the LEGO SMART Brick, allowing fans to interact with builds beyond the construction process. Fans, and their families, can roleplay as Trainers through themed activities focused on exploration, nurturing, training, and battle.
The launch includes two LEGO SMART Play All-in-One sets: Training House with Pikachu and Charizard vs. Jolteon Ultimate Battle, which include SMART Bricks, SMART Tags, and chargers needed for gameplay. Ten additional compatible sets expand the system with themed adventures, from Cubone and Gengar’s Spooky Showdown to Drone Search for Mythical Mew.
Fans who purchase select sets can also receive LEGO Pokémon SMART Play: Ditto as Squirtle: Movie Night as a gift with purchase while supplies last.
The rollout also extends to Pokémon Go. Select LEGO Stores will transform into PokéStops and Gyms from August through September, offering fans opportunities to unlock digital rewards, LEGO Pokémon backgrounds, stickers, apparel in the app, and a LEGO SMART Tag while supplies last.
The new sets are available for preorder and launch Aug. 1 at LEGO Stores, LEGO.com, and select retailers.Trainers can learn more about the collection online at LEGO.com/themes/pokemon.
