Get ready for a brand-new superhero from the visionary mind of Stan Lee.
Adam Chaco, a Native American homicide detective, suddenly begins to inherit the mystical powers of his ancestors following his estranged father’s death. Chaco’s story is set to be told for the first time in Restless, a new TV series from Starlings Television and Atalaya Productions, in partnership with Stan Lee’s POW! Entertainment. POW! Entertainment first announced the new show during a Stan Lee memorial panel during last week’s Comic-Con International: San Diego (SDCC).
David Greenwalt (Grimm, Angel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and James Dalessandro (1906) are set to write the show, with Greenwalt also serving as showrunner. Executive producers include Chris Philip, POW! Entertainment President Gill Champion, Giovanni Orlando, Larry Jacobson, and Karine Martin.
The only actor attached to the project so far is Wes Studi, who is set to play Chaco’s grandfather, Mohe, a revered shaman. He will also co-executive produce.
In the series, Chaco must come to terms with his heritage and use his new powers to fight supernatural criminals. However, he isn’t alone in his fight. He meets Interpol Special Investigator Bridghid Everly, a descendant of a Druid princess who also has physical and psychic abilities. The pair must work together to stop these supernatural beings.
