Tonight, Marvel Studios took over Hall H for the most highly anticipated panel at this year’s Comic-Con International: San Diego (SDCC). President Kevin Feige introduced the panel, starting by welcoming and thanking fans before revealing a blank timeline for the fourth phase of the MCU.
Buckle up, because here’s that timeline for you, all filled in.
Black Widow (May 1, 2020)
This was the final project announced during the SDCC panel, but it’s no surprise to most Marvel fans that Black Widow will start off the next phase of the MCU. The cast officially includes Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), David Harbour, Florence Pugh, O-T Fagbenle, and Rachel Weisz.
The movie has been filming for about a month now, and the studio showed a teaser clip at the panel. According to those at the panel, we finally get to see Budapest! It also showed Natasha against both Yelena and Taskmaster.
The Eternals (Nov. 6, 2020)
After many rumors and so much speculation, Marvel officially revealed the cast for this new super ensemble: Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff, Brian Tyree Henry, Salma Hayek, Lia McHugh, and Don Lee. Chloé Zhao will direct.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (Fall 2020, Disney+)
Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan will reprise their roles for this new series. Daniel Bruhl will also be reprising his role as Baron Zemo. And check out that shield in the logo. …
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (Feb. 12, 2021)
We all hoped that we hadn’t seen the end of the Mandarin yet, and Marvel isn’t one to disappoint. Tony Lueng will play the real Mandarin in this film, starring alongside Simu Liu (as Shang-Chi) and Awkwafina.
WandaVision (Spring 2021, Disney+)
Not only will Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany reprise their roles as Scarlet Witch and Vision for this new series, but Teyonah Parris will also star as Monica Rambeau!
Loki (Spring 2021, Disney+)
What would a Marvel panel be without Loki? Tom Hiddleston will reprise his role as fan-favorite Loki for this new series, which follows the God of Mischief after the events of Endgame (when he, you know, stole the Tesseract).
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (May 7, 2021)
During the panel, director Scott Derrickson called this “the first scary MCU film.” Benedict Cumberbatch will return as Dr. Strange, and the movie will also feature Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen).
What If..? (Summer 2021, Disney+)
This is the first animated contribution to the MCU. The series will feature Jeffrey Wright as the voice of the Watcher and dozens of other MCU stars reprising their roles — including Mark Ruffalo, Chadwick Boseman, and Jeremy Renner. Check out who will be involved in this photo that Ryan Penagos tweeted.
Hawkeye (Fall 2021, Disney+)
Jeremy Renner will return as Hawkeye for this series, which will officially introduce the character of Kate Bishop.
Thor: Love and Thunder (Nov. 5, 2021)
Wow, that title. Thor is back and, as reported last week, so is director Taika Waititi. The cast includes Chris Hemsworth returning as Thor, Tessa Thompson returning as Valkyrie, and — get ready for it — Natalie Portman, who will portray female Thor!
Blade (TBD)
We don’t have a release date for this yet, but Marvel also announced that we will be getting a Blade movie starring Mahershala Ali.
Although they were not formally announced, Kevin Feige did confirm that Captain Marvel 2, Black Panther 2, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 are also on the way. He even mentioned the Fantastic Four and “mutants.”
