Maverick is back in action and ready to zoom off in the Top Gun sequel. The first trailer just dropped at Comic-Con International: San Diego (SDCC).
Tom Cruise dropped in for a surprise visit at the show to reveal the first trailer for Top Gun: Maverick today.
The second movie, which follows up the original 33 years later, will star Tom Cruise, Jon Hamm, Val Kilmer, Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, and Ed Harris. It continues the story of fighter pilot Maverick, who has remained in the Navy with no promotions, tons of medals, and no plans of retiring. Drones and fifth generation fighters have taken over, so the end of dogfighting is near.
The trailer gives fans all the classic Top Gun shots, including fight jets flying everywhere, naval officers partying hard, Tom Cruise on a motorcycle, and a lovely lady — this time it’s Jennifer Connelly — because you can’t have it any other way.
Expect loads of action and a really sad funeral scene in the sequel flying into theaters June 26, 2020.
