Shazam

With Shazam! at the top of the U.S. box office, it’s no surprise that Warner Bros. is already thinking about what’s next for the teenager turned superhero.

The studio reportedly has tapped OG screenwriter Henry Gayden to return and create the screenplay for the sequel. Director David F. Sandberg and producer Peter Safran are expected to return, too.

The latest DC film Shazam! tells the origin story of 14-year-old foster kid Billy Batson (Asher Angel), who can turn into adult superhero Shazam (Zachary Levi) just by shouting out “Shazam!” He may look like a full-grown hero, but inside he’s just a kid muddling through his new powers (what even are his new powers?!), trying to have fun with them, and documenting them all with his BFF and de-facto sidekick Freddy (Jack Dylan Grazer).
