This year, SEGA is celebrating the Blue Blur’s big birthday with a special art exhibit that fans will be speeding to see.
The company is teaming up with creative production brand iam8bit to host the exhibit, called 35 Years of Speed: The Sonic Art Exhibit, which will feature original artwork curated from SEGA’s archives, as well as more than 30 pieces by renowned artists, each honoring and reimagining special moments in the franchise’s 35-year history.
The companies are also inviting fans to join in the celebration with their Sonic the Hedgehog fan art showcase. From now until Aug. 3, fans worldwide can check out the official submission rules and submit their artwork for consideration at sonic35.iam8bit.com. The best submissions will also be featured on SEGA’s social media channels and website, and a small selection will be included in the 35 Years of Speed: The Sonic Art Exhibit.
Visit sega.com/news/sonic-x-iam8bit-gallery-tour-fan-art-showcase to learn more about submission guidelines and exhibit detail updates. 35 Years of Speed will debut later this year at PAX West (Sept. 4-6) in Seattle and later in the month in Los Angeles (Sept. 26-27). Until we can speed to the west coast later this year, we will have to live with replaying our favorite Sonic games to celebrate his b-day.
