Stranger Things 3 Hawkins mall

The Demogorgons are back with a vengeance, pushing Stranger Things 3 to break a 4-day viewing record.

Netflix announced yesterday that 40.7 million accounts streamed the throwback horror/sci-fi series since its Independence Day premiere. Out of those 40.7 million accounts, 18.2 million already marathoned the third season. They certainly did not waste any time.

That’s more than double the viewership of Stranger Things 2’s debut weekend. The second season also had a scary good premiere on Oct. 27, racking up 15.8 million views from its first episode. The fans just couldn’t get enough of all the creepy, yet nostalgic action, as each of the nine episodes earned about 4 million viewers.

The new season stars Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), David Harbour (Sheriff Hopper), Winona Ryder (Joyce Byers), Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson), Caleb McLoughlin (Lucas Sinclair), Natalia Dyer (Nancy Wheeler), Sadie Sink (Max Mayfield), Noah Schnapp (Will Byers), Charlie Heaton (Jonathan Byers), Joe Keery (Steve Harrington), Cara Buono (Karen Wheeler), and Dacre Montgomery (Billy Hargrove).

New faces include Maya Hawke as Robin, Gabriella Pizzolo as Suzie, Alec Utgoff as Alexei, Cary Elwes as Mayor Larry Kline, and Priah Ferguson as Erica Sinclair. I’m mainly excited that Dustin’s science summer camp gf, Suzie, actually exists.

It’s the summer of 1985, and as every dang Season 3 poster explains, this one summer will change everything. The Demogorgons are back — with enhanced CGI, no less — as well as all fan-favorite and new characters out of school and even some starting new jobs. Love is blossoming while a new — and quite suspicious — mall is in town that seems to be turning Hawkins, Indiana upside down. The gang begins to unearth a terrifying mystery that can change their town forever. Cue the eerie Stranger Things theme song.
