Disney may have fired James Gunn over his tweets, but it seems like Sony is just giving it some time.
The studio moved BrightBurn, a horror movie produced by Gunn, from its original November 30 release to May 24, 2019. This places the film at the start of Memorial Day weekend, a coveted box-office spot.
In its new weekend, BrightBurn will be up against Disney’s live-action Aladdin, Warner Bros.’ Minecraft, and Fox’s Stuber.
There isn’t much information available yet about the film. It was set to have a panel at San Diego Comic-Con, but the event was canceled in light the controversy over Gunn’s tweets.
Sony will release another horror film, The Possession of Hannah Grace, on November 3 instead.
