Let’s face it: You’ve got more SpongeBob SquarePants quotes on an A-Z backlog than you know what to do with. From Patrick’s profundity to Squidward’s cynicism, there are only so many opportunities to apply those iconic quips (except for “Can I be excused for the rest of my life?” That one works for anything).

Put those spongy sayings to good use in The Op and Steve Jackson Games’ new Munchkin: SpongeBob SquarePants card game! This edition takes the role-playing fun of Munchkin and transports players to the bubbly world of Bikini Bottom.

Players can bring it around town with the Krusty Krab crew and other iconic characters, such as Sandy Cheeks and Pearl Krabs, as they gather items and earn treasure. But they must beware foes like the Flying Dutchman and Plankton. If players manage to evade these scallywags, they’ll have to put their luck to the test with chance encounters. If the chance reveals a curse card, players will have to deal with troubles like the “Smelly Smell,” which makes them lose allies like Gary (all players should sing “Gary Come Home” in memoriam in this case).

Bonus items such as the “Magic Conch Shell” and “King Neptune’s Trident” can help players summon heroes and freeze enemies on their way to glorious victory in Level 10. Characters like Fred and Larry the Lobster can help lucky crew members along the way, too. (“A” is for allies that help anywhere and anytime at all down here in the deep blue sea!)

In addition to Munchkin: SpongeBob SquarePants, The Op has a pretty patty variety of other SpongeBob SquarePants games, such as Monopoly: SpongeBob SquarePants Meme Edition, SPOT IT! SpongeBob SquarePants, and Trivial Pursuit: SpongeBob SquarePants.
