Remember Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald? Well, Newt, Jacob, Queenie, Grindelwald himself, and the rest of the Fantastic Beasts characters are officially coming back for the third installment of the magical franchise.
Yesterday, the official Wizarding World website posted a blog post with new details about the movie, which will officially start production next spring and will release on Nov. 12, 2021.
According to the post, director David Yates will return for the movie, with a screenplay written by J.K. Rowling and Steve Kloves. The primary cast members are all set to return, including Eddie Redmayne (Newt Scamander), Jude Law (Albus Dumbledore), Johnny Depp (Gellert Grindelwald), Ezra Miller (Credence/Aurelius Dumbledore), Alison Sudol (Queenie Goldstein), Dan Fogler (Jacob Kowalski), and Katherine Waterston (Tina Goldstein).
Jessica Williams — who appeared briefly in The Crimes of Grindelwald as Professor Eulalie “Lally” Hicks, a teacher at Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry — will have a larger role in this film.
The final reveal from the blog post was a new location for the third film. The first Fantastic Beasts movie showed fans the magical side of New York City, the second movie took the characters to Paris, and the third movie will take place in Rio de Janeiro and explore the wizarding culture there.
