Make sure you have tissues on your Christmas list this year. Pixar’s Soul is coming straight to Disney+ on Dec. 25.
The film follows the life, afterlife, and possibly pre-life of a middle school band teacher who accidentally falls into a manhole cover after getting the opportunity of a (yes) lifetime. He decides he’s not done living and fights to make it back to Earth — teaching a new friend about the power of being alive along the way.
It comes from the Academy Award-winning director of Inside Out and Up and stars some pretty incredible voices. Jamie Foxx plays Joe, the ill-fated teacher, and Tina Fey plays his new pal, 22, who doesn’t want to go to Earth. Other notable voices include Phylicia Rashad, Ahmir Questlove Thompson, Angela Bassett, and Daveed Diggs. Original Jazz music is from Jon Batiste and the score was composed by Oscar winners Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.
Soul will top of the end of the weirdest year of most of our lives, giving a new perspective in a time we need it most. Unlike Mulan (no shade), it will be available to all subscribers.
