Who is Alex Trebek?
Trebek is a father and a husband, but to most of us, he’s America’s Dad, legendary Jeopardy! game show host, and soon-to-be published author.
His book, The Answer Is…: Reflections on My Life, is coming out on July 21 and will be filled with personal anecdotes about parenthood, education, success, spirituality, and other topics. Of course, it will give some behind-the-scenes looks at Jeopardy! with never-before-seen photos that capture the host over the years. Trebek will also answer some of the questions fans ask him most, such as why he shaved his signature mustache, his insights on legendary players like Ken Jennings and James Holzhauer, and more.
After turning down appeals to write about his own life for nearly three decades, things changed after his public announcement of being diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer last year. Viewers sent in their love and support on social media and with cards to the Jeopardy! studio.
“I want people to know a little more about the person they have been cheering on for the past year,” he writes in The Answer Is…: Reflections on My Life.
Trebek debuted as the host of Jeopardy! in 1984 and has hosted the game show for 30 seasons. He earned seven Daytime Emmy Awards — including a Lifetime Achievement Award — and broke a Guiness World Record for most episodes of a game show hosted by the same presenter.
