All of our favorite Disney Princess gals will come together in this fall’s upcoming sequel, Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2. We’re calling this the gathering of the century!
In the upcoming film, Vanellope online surfs her way into the Disney Princess dressing room, giving us an entirely new look at 14 of the franchise’s most iconic leading ladies. We’ve all seen a bunch of fan art that gives us a modern take on this girl squad, but this marks one of the first times that Disney enlightened us with a new look.
The girl gang hang up their inconvenient dresses and iconic accessories, trading them in for a more comfortable look. The group is joined in a casual setting—with some lounging on the floor, sprawled out on the couch, or reclining on a bean bag chair—while they veg out on junk food galore.
The scene gently pokes fun at many of the outdated stereotypes that have become commonplace in Disney movie classics. Actress and comedian Sarah Silverman, who voices Vanellope in the movies, shares that, “the princesses and Vanellope learn a lot from each other, but what happens in that discussion is acknowledging the… I don’t want to say just blatant sexism, but the kind of dated, antiquated idea of princesses and bringing it up to a feminist—meaning equal —code.”
Just take the newly released clip, which features a #RealTalk conversation between Vanellope and the princesses after she first stumbles upon the gang. “Do people assume all of your problems got solved because a big, strong man showed up,” asks Rapunzel. When Little V begrudgingly answers “yes,” the blonde, long-haired heroine confirms that this must mean that she too is a princess. BOOM, roasted!
The gals also sport ironic T-shirts that millennials everywhere would likely wear (if they don’t already own). Elsa wears a shirt that reads, “Just Let It Go,” while Snow White proudly shows off a top featuring a graphic of a rotten apple. This is the ultimate slumber party of our dreams.
Ralph Breaks the Internet drops into theaters on Nov. 21. Until then, check out the trailer below for a sneak peek at this much-anticipated scene (Psst, skip to 1:30 for the meet-up).
