It’s the continuing celebration of Mickey’s big birthday! In honor of his big day, Disney plans to celebrate his 90-year impact on pop culture with a musical extravaganza.
Disney’s new “True Original Summer of Music” will focus on memorable live events and performances, kicking off with concerts from Indie Blues singer Devon Gilfillian and K-pop singer Tiffany Young, of Girl Generation.
The celebration all begins with emerging singer Devon Gilfillian performing a special concert at Levi’s Haus of Strauss in West Hollywood, California, on Aug. 6. Young will follow up with a concert on Aug. 25 at her D23 Expo debut, where she’ll launch her new single and music video for “Magnetic Moon.”
“Mickey has served as a muse and creative symbol for musical artists for generations, with the classic Mickey Mouse tee appearing on concert stages across the globe,” said Josh Silverman, executive vice president of global product commercialization for Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products, in a statement. “A musical celebration is only fitting for Mickey, and we’re delighted to showcase his influence through performances this summer.”
This music celebration will continue Disney’s “True Original” campaign that was launched last year to celebrate Mickey’s impact on pop culture, art, music, and technology. Wear your best True Original threads and get ready to rock out with the star of the show himself, Mickey!
