With just two episodes left to go, Marvel Studios’ The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is headed toward what is likely an explosive conclusion on Disney+.
A new mid-season sneak peek video was released today and it explores the complicated legacy of Captain America’s shield and what lies ahead for Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), John F. Walker (Wyatt Russell), Baron Zemo (Daniel Brühl), and the rising global influence of the Flag Smashers.
Following the success of WandaVision and its unique storytelling style, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is taking audiences back into the type of globe-trotting action that the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is known for, but with some pretty heavy social topics at play.
While we don’t yet know how the series will handle the increasingly dark turns for John F. Walker as Captain America, one widely shared meme indicates that his actions may be reflective of how the world at large views the actions of the U.S. in real life.
While this series is going deep on social commentary, audiences can look forward to some lighter fare when Loki arrives on Disney+ this summer.
