Birds of Prey Pop Vinyl Review

I’d say “Holy collectability, Batman!,” except there’s no Batman here.

Warner Bros. Pictures’ Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is a Gotham City tale that’s all about the ladies, and the Funko Pop! Vinyl collection reflects that.

Right out of the gate, we have four different versions of Margot Robbie‘s Harley Quinn — Caution Tape Jacket, Black Mask Club, Roller Derby, and with Bernie, her stuffed beaver — plus Black Canary (Boobytrap Battle), and Huntress (Hooded). Ewan McGregor‘s Roman Sionis appears in two versions, one in his white suit (standard), and one in black (limited-edition chase figure). Where things get really interesting is with the Entertainment Earth (EE) exclusive collector card versions of the figures.

Following a successful collaboration with Funko on a series of Avengers: Endgame Pop! Vinyls that came packed with EE-exclusive trading cards last year, the companies are doing it again for Birds of Prey.

Each individual figure comes in a box with a special holographic sticker denoting it as containing an EE-exclusive trading card. Inside, fans will find a foil pack that contains a single card. In all, there are 22 different cards to collect, three for each character in varying levels of rarity (common, 1:6 silver foil, and 1:36 gold foil).  A special fourth gold foil card exists for the Roman Sionis chase figure. With seven figures in the set, it will be nearly impossible to complete the entire set of 22 cards. EE notes that the cards are packed at random and provides a simple warning for those who may be inclined to purchase additional figures in hopes of completing the collector card set: “You may receive duplicates.”

The figures look great, and with so many different versions of Harley Quinn, non-completists may find it hard to decide just which one they have to have. Personally, I’m a bit partial to the caution tape look and the roller derby styling. Huntress, with her crossbow, and Black Canary, with her baseball bat (which says “goodnight”), look like they mean serious business. As for Roman, we received the chase version, and he looks a bit like a more-sinister version of David S. Pumpkins. That’s not a bad thing.
