Warning: Spoilers for the upcoming season of HBO’s Game of Thrones lie ahead!
If you’re a Game of Thrones geek like me, you know winter (and White Walkers) are finally coming to Westeros in season eight.
Series star VladimÃr FurdÃk, who plays the Night King, revealed that the six-part finale’s legendary battle might be arriving sooner than you’d expect. At a fan convention in Hungary, the Slovakian actor revealed that the season’s biggest battle will take place sometime in the middle of the season.
“In the third episode of the last season, there is a battle that the creators intended to be a historic moment in television,” said FurdÃk. According to FurdÃk, the battle took a whopping 55 days to film.
Many shows use the final episode of a season to showcase fireworks, but Game of Thrones is different. In fact, the fantasy series often lets the penultimate episode serve as the most dramatic (just take “The Rains of Castamere,” “Battle of the Bastards,” and “Beyond the Wall” as prime examples).
It’s for this very reason that many fans expect the third episode of the six-part finale to feature the bloodiest battle of them all.
