Hello Kitty fans finally have the chance to see the movie they’ve all been waiting for.
Sanrio, New Line Cinema, and FlynnPictureCo. will produce a Hello Kitty film after 45 years gracing the cutest stationary, video games, and cafes.
This is the first time Sanrio has granted film rights to Hello Kitty and her adorable friends to a major film studio.
“I am extremely pleased that Hello Kitty and other popular Sanrio characters will be making their Hollywood debut,” Sanrio Founder, President, and CEO Shintaro Tsuji says in a statement. “Hello Kitty has long been a symbol of friendship and we hope this film will only serve to grow that circle of friendship around the world.”
Wendy Jacobson will act as the executive producer of the Hello Kitty movie while Beau Flynn will produce it. They’re currently on the hunt for writers and actors for the film.
There’s still no word on whether Hello Kitty’s first movie will be animated, live-action, or a hybrid.
Get ready to watch the fun adventures of about 20 Sanrio characters, including Gudetama and My Melody, played out on the big screen because New Line Cinema has the rights to feature all of them, according to The New York Times.
