While Netflix has yet to announce the release date for the fifth season of Black Mirror, a new report from Bloomberg reveals we can expect it this year and with an interactive twist.
While we’ve certainly seen a broad spectrum of episodes of the Netflix series with positive endings, tragic endings, and everything in between, the series is reportedly going a new direction. Based on the report, a “choose your own adventure” episode is currently in the works for the fifth season of the series, which will debut before the end of the year.
Netflix hasn’t revealed the release date, but fans have theorized it could follow the pattern of the previous seasons with a fourth-quarter release. Season three debuted October 21, 2016 and season four aired December 29, so we could expect new episodes fairly soon if the fifth season follows this trend.
The report, tight-lipped on details, indicates the streaming service is currently planning several choose-your-own-adventure specials, where viewers can choose the next storyline in a TV episode or film, including one episode of Black Mirror. This upcoming episode will be the streaming platform’s first time using the interactive format for a live-actions series designed for adult viewers.
