Riverdale will air its final episode featuring Luke Perry, titled “Fear the Reaper,” this Wednesday.
Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa confirmed the emotional news on Twitter yesterday.
This week’s #Riverdale is the last episode Luke filmed. As always, Fred’s imparting words of wisdom to Archie. A beautiful, true moment between a father and his son. Wish these scenes could go on forever…❤️🏆💎👨🏻💻 pic.twitter.com/meokbvo0Wt

Aguirre-Sacasa writes in his post, “As always, Fred’s imparting words of wisdom to Archie. A beautiful, true moment between a father and his son.”
Former teen icon Perry starred as Archie’s (KJ Apa) father Fred Andrews for three seasons on The CW series. After his death in March, Aguirre-Sacasa announced that the remainder of the third season of the show would be dedicated to Perry’s memory.
For weeks, fans have seen Perry posthumously appear on the otherwise ridiculous third season of the show. It’s been heart-wrenching to see the beautiful father-son moments together onscreen, knowing they were limited. The upcoming episode will feature Archie dealing with the fallout from his latest boxing match, and I’m sure that will lead to a legendary father-son inspirational pep talk for the ages. So, stock up on your tissues now.
Riverdale airs on Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. on The CW.
