Netflix released a video clip to announce that the third season of Stranger Things will premiere on July 4 of this year. The clip was made to look like a broadcast of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve from 1985 (the year in which the new season takes place), sponsored by Hawkins’ fictional Starcourt Mall that’s been making appearances in the season 3 promos. As the clock counts down to midnight, the screen starts to turn *upside down* with static and some retro-looking computer code.

The Stranger Things Twitter account also released a new image featuring the squad standing underneath fireworks with the tagline “One summer can change everything” and the caption “JULY 4.”

Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and Mike (Finn Wolfhard) are center stage holding hands, while the rest of the kids are watching fireworks among their scattered bikes. Both Eleven and Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) are looking backwards, drawing attention to what looks like Demogorgon body parts at the very bottom of the frame, almost like the supernatural monster is the one taking the photo. Say cheese!
