Years after Maleficent cursed Aurora into a deep sleep, the dark fairy and the young queen are back in action as their loyalties are tested in the biggest battle that Ulstead and the Moors have seen.
Walt Disney Pictures released a new trailer of the enchanting flick today. The sequel sees Maleficent (Angelina Jolie) and her goddaughter Aurora (Elle Fanning) question their complex family ties as they are thrust onto opposite sides in a Great War. While Aurora’s upcoming marriage to Prince Philip is initially a cause for celebration throughout the kingdom and the forest, an unexpected encounter introduces a new alliance that will change the course of the war and determine whether Maleficent and Aurora can truly be family — or if they’ll be pulled apart by their different worlds.
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil debuts in theaters on Oct. 19.
