Elton John has come a long way from the shy, small-town piano player he was as a kid growing up in the ’50s. Fans can get a glimpse into his life in Rocketman, a musical drama based on his life, coming to theaters on May 31.

The movie follows the flashy musician’s transformation from timid piano prodigy Reginald Dwight to the international superstar he became. The story is set to Elton John’s iconic songs, performed by English actor Taron Egerton. Rocketman also stars Jamie Bell as Elton’s longtime lyricist and writing partner Bernie Taupin, Richard Madden as Elton’s first manager John Reid, and Bryce Dallas Howard as Elton’s mother Sheila Farebrother.

The movie is directed by Dexter Fletcher; produced by Matthew Vaughn, David Furnish, Adam Bohling, and David Reid; and executive produced by Elton John, Steve Hamilton Shaw, Michael Gracey, Claudia Schiffer, and Brian Oliver.
