The UglyDolls gang are getting a little help from Nick Jonas.

Actor and Grammy and Golden Globe-nominated singer Nick Jonas recently announced his casting in the new UglyDolls animated film from STX Entertainment. Jonas joins Pitbull and Kelly Clarkson who will also voice characters in film.

“Nick Jonas is not only a talented musician, he’s also an accomplished actor beloved by millions of passionate fans around the world,” Adam Fogelson, chairman of STXfilms, said in a statement. “Over the last several years, Nick has proven there’s not much he can’t do, and we’re ecstatic to have him join Kelly and Pitbull in this charming and funny film.”

The film, based on the Pretty Ugly toy line follows the story of spirited Moxy (Clarkson) and her UglyDolls friends in Uglyville as they discover what it means to be different, the struggles with the desire to be loved, and finding out that you don’t have to be perfect to be amazing because who you are is what matters the most. Jonas was most recently seen on the big screen in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Goat, and now prepares to step into Uglyville for this new project.

“The UglyDolls remind audiences the importance of acceptance and loving yourself, and as someone who started in this business very young, I understand the significance of using my platform to tell stories that lift others up,” Jonas said. “I love that I get to work with Kelly Clarkson and Pitbull, and I can’t wait to get started.”

The newly engaged actor (AKA the future Mr. Priyanka Chopra) announced his role on social media as he begins recording his part, sharing why this role is an important message. Not only will Jonas headline the film as a voiceover, but he’ll also perform a brand-new original song for the film as well. No doubt that will be great.
