While in-store events are still on pause to keep Pokémon fans safe during the COVID-19 pandemic, The Pokémon Co. International has partnered with tournamentcenter for a virtual alternative.

The Play! Pokémon Team Challenge will be a global, online event that will give players a new way to interact with each other and their local Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) community.

The tournament is open to Masters Division players, who can participate in qualifiers that will create four-person teams in conjunction with their local game store. Fans can use this store finder to locate a participating store near them, then register to play at starting on Nov. 27.

After the qualifiers, the teams of four will go on to represent their store in the playoffs. The tournament will kick off on Dec. 5 and run for six months, culminating in a Grand Final between the top two stores in late May.
