More promos for the upcoming Elseworlds Arrowverse three-part event are coming out as we’re getting closer to the annual CW crossover, including a first look at Batwoman (Ruby Rose) joining the hero squad for the first time.
In the teaser trailer, Green Arrow (in this version, played by Grant Gustin) and Cisco (Carlos Valdes) meet Batwoman. In the blink-and-you’ll-miss-it promo, this version of Green Arrow and Cisco discuss how Batman is an urban legend as a masked and caped figure—dressed in all black—flies down. No, it’s not Batman, but rather the red-headed caped hero fresh off her victory helping them foil a prison break at Arkham Asylum.

The clip teased a look at the Bat-signal and Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) and Barry disagreeing over Batman’s existence. “You don’t believe in Batman,” Barry asks Oliver. He replied, “Batman is an urban legend.”
This stance makes sense, as Amell previously told Entertainment Weekly, “Oliver is not enthused about the idea that there might be some other vigilante out there.”
While Batman does not appear in Elseworlds, he will be referenced. In the Arrowverse, Gotham City is a failed city because Batman has been missing for several years, leaving crime to flourish.
“Our approach is: What does Gotham look like after the Batman has been gone for three years? So if you have the law and order, protector, and hope gone, what happens as a result,” Caroline Dries told Entertainment Weekly. “Some people are thriving in his absence because now they can start to do their own thing without the oversight. A lot of other people are suffering and they’re losing hope, and the city itself and infrastructure is falling apart. So it’s not a happy place. Our guys walk into a grimy, scary Gotham.”
Oliver Queen, Barry Allen, and Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist) head to the failing city, where they speculate if indeed Batman is real.
“Oliver is like, ‘He’s not real! They’ve made him up! It’s a hoax just to scare the citizens.’ Barry is flabbergasted by that, and all he wants to do in Gotham is meet Batman. It’s a pretty funny scene,” Gustin said.
This year’s crossover takes the Arrowverse crew to Gotham City as Barry and Oliver switch lives as result of Dr. John Deegan rewriting reality. Supergirl will track down the evil doctor and cross paths with Batwoman, who may not be too pleased to see the DC heroes.
