Another rebel alliance has formed between Atomic Mass Games and Asmodee, bringing a new Star Wars game to fans who love to see huge combat play out… on a mini scale! Star Wars: Shatterpoint is a new tabletop title that features iconic characters — such as Ahsoka Tano and Darth Maul — in miniature and customizable form, ready to be painted and set to battle.

Atomic Mass Games has plenty of experience in miniature battle games set in the Star Wars universe, having previously launched the Star Wars: X-Wing and Star Wars: Legion series, which both feature detailed Star Wars minis. Like Legion, the minis included in Shatterpoint are unpainted, giving hobbyists the most customization possible (if you’d like a green Ashoka Tano, you’re free to paint her that way).

This new miniature game is focused on the characters, letting fans build an entirely hand-picked squad to take with them to fight in battle scenarios against other players. The squads can be lore-friendly (such as rolling out with Darth Maul and his super commandos) or mixed and matched to create a custom collection of favorites. Characters in the game will also have special abilities and combat skills that players can use to help complete objectives within the game scenario. According to Atomic Mass Games Head of Product Dev Will Shick, the game is intended as a “love letter to ‘80s and ‘90s animated Saturday morning cartoons — so the idea of these characters going week to week on high action, high octane adventures.”

The core set of the game includes enough characters to get started battling with a friend, as well as terrain features to spice up the battlefield. Different features influence the scenario you’re playing, with things like elevation affecting what strategy you’ll want to use with your squad. There will be future expansions with new characters as well, reportedly with regular expansion releases trickling out monthly after Shatterpoint’s initial release in June. As a teaser, fans of Mace Windu or Padme will likely be able to incorporate them with a future expansion.

Preorders for Star Wars: Shatterpoint are expected to launch in January, with additional information to come on the preorder date, such as character design previews and behind-the-scenes content from Atomic Mass Games. Become a master of the Force and take your squad to battle with Star Wars: Shatterpoint!
