While we’re still waiting around for Netflix to release season three of its hit, royal-centric drama, The Crown, the streaming giant is already firming up the cast for season four.
Netflix chose Emma Corrin to play Lady Diana Spencer, the eventual People’s Princess, in season four. And honestly, she already looks the part.
“Emma is a brilliant talent who immediately captivated us when she came in for the part of Diana Spencer. As well as having the innocence and beauty of a young Diana, she also has, in abundance, the range and complexity to portray an extraordinary woman who went from anonymous teenager to becoming the most iconic woman of her generation,” says The Crown creator Peter Morgan.
Still a relative newcomer on the scene, Corrin will make her feature film debut in Misbehaviour, while her debut as a U.S. series regular will be in Pennyworth, a Warner Bros.– produced prequel about Batman’s butler, Alfred Pennyworth.
“Beyond excited and honored to be joining The Crown for its fourth season,” Corrin says. “I have been glued to the show since the first episode and to think I’m now joining this incredibly talented acting family is just surreal. Princess Diana was an icon, and her effect on the world remains profound and inspiring. To be given the chance to explore her through Peter Morgan’s writing is the most exceptional opportunity, and I will strive to do her justice!”
I, for one, can’t wait to see Corrin play everyone’s former favorite princess (Hi, Meghan, I love you. Ok, thanks, bye!), but we’re jumping the gun a bit. Hi, Netflix, it’s me, Sierra. Where is season three?
