The independent video game Cuphead jumped onto the scene back in 2017 and became an award-winning hit, selling more than 4 million units to date. The games features retro-style animation and follows two brothers named Cuphead and Mugman.
Now, the brothers’ adventures in the Inkwell Isles will expand outside of the video game world and onto the small screen with The Cuphead Show!, a new animated series coming to Netflix from King Features and Studio MDHR. The series will utilize the same golden-era-inspired animation as the game, following the “many misadventures” of Cuphead and Mugman.
CJ Kettler (King Features) and creators Chad and Jared Moldenhauer (Studio MDHR) will serve as executive producers for the show. Netflix Animation will produce the series, with Dave Wasson (Mickey Mouse Shorts) as executive producer and Cosmo Segurson (Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling) as co-executive producer.
The Moldenhaurs will also be at Comic-Con International: San Diego (SDCC) this month for a panel and poster signing on July 20.
