Tickets for the new The Lion King officially went on sale this morning, but (at least, IMO) that’s not the most exciting piece of Lion King news to hit today. Disney just released almost the entire track list for the new movie’s soundtrack, along with its release dates and details.
The digital version of the soundtrack will be released at 8 a.m. PDT on July 11, while the physical album will drop the same day as the movie, on July 19. Fans can preorder the physical album now.
With Hans Zimmer — who scored the original animated classic — returning to compose, and with voice talents such as Beyoncé and Donald Glover in the cast, there was no question that the soundtrack would be a must-have. But the track list is a gift that just keeps giving: there’s even a new Elton John song, called “Never Too Late,” for the end credits. A recording of the song “He Lives in You,” which is part of the Lion King Broadway show, will also play during the end credits. It even looks like Disney is still keeping something up its sleeve, with track 14 listed only as “TBA.”
