Venom screenwriter Jeff Pinker revealed that a follow-up for the film is in the works, but he may not be involved in it.

During an interview with Discussing Film, Pinker talked about the likelihood of a sequel. “I can’t say anything other than it is happening. I am not [writing the film]. As of right now, I am not,” he said.

In the interview, Pinker was asked about a potential Spider-Man connection in the Venom universe, considering the Sony film centers around Spider-Man secondary characters.

“Without revealing anything that I’m not allow to reveal, it is not impossible that in a future/upcoming Venom movie, Spider-Man will play a significant role. I think it’s fair to say that everyone involved would be very excited by a Spider-Man/Venom movie.”

While we don’t know any further specifics of the film or if Tom Holland’s version of Spider-Man will be involved, there’s a high chance we can expect Spider-Manto play a role in the sequel’s story.

A Venom sequel is slated for an October 2020 release.
