Who will build the ultimate fighting machine?
With the HEXBUG VEX Robotics BattleBots Minotaur and Tombstone kits, it could be you! Fans of the hit TV series on ABC will love this kit that lets kids build up their very own versions of the popular battling robots.
While they build, kids use STEM-based problem solving skills in order to create a bot that really rolls and has a working defense weapon. Tombstone features its signature spinning blade, while Minotaur features its steamrolling power. For example, Tombstone is built on a gearbox that features a mechanical rectifier that allows the “blade”—don’t worry, it’s just plastic—to spin in the same direction regardless of the direction of the wheels. Since kids are building up the entire set, they can see how the pieces go together to make this principle work.
Although they’re packed full of STEM learning, the BattleBots aren’t tough to build. Kids can go through the easy-to-follow instructions and use the snap-together pieces to construct their robots with little frustration. Don’t be fooled though—the building processes will keep aspiring robot battlers busy for some time. The Minotaur kit contains more than 345 pieces to build up this fearsome adversary, while Tombstones kit features more than 425 pieces. Once they’re all built up, kids can push them to see their advanced-level gear work in action.
Fans of the BattleBots series will be seriously stoked about the realistic details on these bots. Not only do the weapons work, but the robots’ pieces are detailed to match the look of the bots IRL. That means that Minotaur features its iconic painted minotaur, while Tombstones outer armor looks textured. While I am drawn to the power of Tombstone’s spinning blade, I can’t resist the fierce look of the Minotaur when it’s built up.
If you think you’ve got what it takes to head into battle, pick up one of these kits and get building. You never know when you’ll find yourself in need of the ultimate fighting machine.
