archives exhibit

The Walt Disney Archives is basically a treasure trove of Disney history. It includes original scripts, movie props and costumes, Walt Disney’s correspondence, theme park artifacts, photographs, and more. Next year, the archive is celebrating its 50th anniversary and, as part of that celebration, will display some of its treasures in a traveling exhibit called “Inside the Walt Disney Archives: 50 Years of Preserving the Magic.”

The 10,000-square-foot exhibit will open to the public at the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana, California, next year from March 7-Aug. 30. D23 members will get an exclusive first look at the exhibit.

The exhibit will feature more than 400 objects, including original artwork, costumes, and props. Some of these artifacts include never-before-displayed production art from Fantasia, Walt Disney‘s office set from Saving Mr. Banks, maquettes (scale models) from animated films, such as Peter Pan and Frozen, and more.
