Jay and Silent Bob Reboot

Comic-Con International: San Diego (SDCC) is in full effect, and for those attendees making their way offsite and into the Gaslamp District, there’s a familiar location that’s come to life outside TCL Chinese Theatres’ Theatre Box: the Quick Stop, first made famous in Kevin Smith‘s Clerks.

For the filming of Smith’s latest work, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, the exterior of the famed New Jersey convenience store was painstakingly duplicated for filming in New Orleans, after which it was dismantled and shipped to California. Now reconstructed in San Diego, the perfect photo op serves as the entrance to the Legion M Fan Lounge presented by the Pop Insider, just as the location is back on the pop culture radar in the debut trailer for the new film. Get ready, but beware: We’re in red band NSFW (not-safe-for-work) territory here!

In the new film, Jay (Jason Mewes) and Silent Bob (Kevin Smith) find themselves in familiar territory as Hollywood decides its time to reboot the cinematic franchise based on the Bluntman and Chronic comic books that they were the basis for back in 2001. It’s another star-studded, cross-country road trip to stop history from repeating itself.

Jay and Silent Bob Reboot will begin hitting theaters this October as part of the Jay and Silent Bob Reboot Roadshow, which kicks off on Oct. 21 at the Music Box Theatre in Chicago. Smith and Mewes will present the film with live Q&A sessions in each city. Check out rebootroadshow.com for dates and tickets.
