Kelly Ripa joins the cast of Riverdale to play her real-life husband’s on-screen mistress. Ripa posted a dark and moody photo of herself on Instagram with the captain, “It’s a family affair……..Hiram’s mistress. 23 years of auditioning for a role I was born to play.”

Ripa’s husband, Mark Consuelos, plays ex-convict and head honcho Hiram Lodge on the CW show. Hiram is father to Veronica and husband to Hermione, although he’s not very good at either.
The CW confirmed Ripa’s role in a statement to Us Weekly, saying, “Kelly Ripa will guest star on Riverdale as MRS. MULWRAY: Confident and tough, she is Hiram Lodge’s alleged mistress. She’s a beautiful, icy, femme fatale who gets caught up in a conspiracy that’s much bigger than she initially realized.”
At a San Diego Comic-Con event in July, Consuelos told Us Weekly, “Wouldn’t it be great? She could play a nice little saucy character. Hiram’s mistress or something like that?”
Ripa and Consuelos’ 21-year-old son Michael Consuelos will also join the cast temporarily, playing a young Hiram Lodge in the flashback episode airing tonight. Riverdale airs Wednesdays on The CW at 8 p.m. ET.
