Kevin Smith and WildBrain are teaming up to create an original animated Green Hornet series.

We don’t believe Ryan Reynolds or Seth Rogan will be allowed near the studio, but we can expect to see elements of the franchise that fans know and love. The series will tell the tale of “two Hornets,” taking elements from the classic superhero story, such as the high-tech “Black Beauty” car and setting them in modern day. The grown son of the original Green Hornet and the daughter of Kato will take the lead.

The series will draw inspiration from Saturday morning classics, such as Batman: The Animated Series, Heavy Metal, and Super Friends, Smith says in a press release. It will target a family audience but I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: cartoons are for everyone.

Fans can tune into Kevin Smith’s YouTube channel tonight at 8 p.m. PDT for more info.
