Marvel is collaborating with digital book startup Serial Box to create original superhero stories designed in audiobook and e-book formats, meant to be viewed on smartphones.
The first Marvel and Serial Box project will star Thor and will debut this summer, led by screenwriter Aaron Stewart-Ahn. There are also plans to produce new stories about Black Panther, Black Widow, and Jessica Jones.
Serial Box will use its roster of authors to create new stories for the Marvel Universe, releasing new chapters of its serialized stories every week, with each season running for 10-16 weeks. The first chapter is free, and each additional episode will cost $1.99 each, or users can buy a season pass to pay upfront for the whole season at an average cost of $13.99.
